It’s springtime, and so many homeowners are busy in and out of their house performing spring cleaning. But while you’re cleaning up the yard, polishing the windows, and getting to all those nicks and crannies, don’t forget to go outside and look up – to your roof!
Checking to make sure that you’re not in need of roof repair during the spring is something that we always recommend. But in addition to that, you should also be performing roof maintenance to ensure that the roof won’t be needing any repair, and that it will be able to withstand the elements throughout the rest of the year. A large part of that, especially in the spring, is cleaning out your gutters.
Cleaning out your gutters in the spring removes the large amounts of debris that have collected in them over the winter months. Sticks, leaves, trash, rocks, and many other items can build up in the gutters and when that happens, it can overflow onto the shingles and other materials on the roof. In turn, that can cause moisture and bacteria to grow, and that can cause significant damage. The simple task of cleaning out your gutters is the best and easiest way to prevent this from happening.
There are tons of gadgets and devices on the market to help you clean out your gutters yourself. However, we still recommend the old-fashioned way of using a ladder, some gloves, and plenty of trash or recycling bags; but we don’t recommend you do it yourself. Cleaning gutters can be a fairly dangerous job, so make sure you call in professional roofers in Kansas City to do the job for you – and maybe even perform a roof inspection while they’re there!
